Partendo dal processo all’ex presidente italiano Silvio Berlusconi, il libro esamina la figura della modella italo-marocchina e aspirante giornalista sportiva Imane Fadil.

Presente alle feste dell’allora Presidente del Consiglio- “bunga bunga”-, fu una testimone chiave, denunciando abusi di potere e prostituzione minorile nella sua residenza di Arcore, vicino a Milano.

Nel 2019 è morta a trentaquattro anni, poche settimane dopo aver annunciato di aver scritto un libro sulla vicenda.

Berlusconi ha ‘compresso’ la rappresentazione delle donne in Italia in pochi pixel. Il progetto dunque manipola “quello che è rimasto” dell’epoca berlusconiana; materiali d’archivio e fotografie personali scattate da Rivas Bao nella casa di Fadil a Milano, vengono combinate con l’IA con l’obiettivo di ricreare le “immagini mancanti” che Fadil aveva raccontato in tribunale, e di cui non c’è nessuna prova visiva esistente.

Il libro decostruisce “Una storia italiana”, un magazine autocelebrativo di propaganda dell’ex presidente, per ricostruire un’altra “storia italiana”: una memoria collettiva nata dalle macerie del “me too fallito” italiano durato più di un decennio (processo Ruby 2010–2023).

In Una Storia Italiana, Eva Rivas Bao revisits the life and unresolved death of Imane Fadil, an Italian-Moroccan model and aspiring sports journalist who became a central witness in the trial against former Italian president Silvio Berlusconi.

Fadil testified about the abuse of power and the exploitation of women that took place at Berlusconi’s private residence during the so-called ‘Bunga Bunga’ parties.

In 2019, shortly after announcing the publication of her book, she died in suspicious circumstances at the age of thirty-four.

The project therefore manipulates “what remains” of the Berlusconian era: archival materials and also personal photographs taken by Rivas Bao in Imane Fadil’s home in Milan are combined with AI with the aim of recreating the “missing images” that Fadil described in court, for which no visual evidence exists.

The book deconstructs ‘An Italian Story’, the title of a propaganda magazine once published by Berlusconi, and rebuilds another ‘italian story’. The result is a collective memory formed from digital rubble, shaped by a national failure to reckon with its own Me Too moment, lasting more than a decade (2010–2023).
